  • Ensures Guest Services Desk appears professional and fully stocked with information including local maps, brochures and event literature.
  • Sells gift cards to customers.
  • Assists with mall marketing initiatives.

We are looking for part time sales associates with flexible availability that can work a variety of shifts including: weekdays, weeknights, weekends (considered Friday, Saturday and Sunday).

The Sales Associate contributes to the success of Sur La Table by inspiring discovery and being a helpful partner on our customers’ journey of memorable experiences. This role engages, educates and assists customers in order to determine their needs and recommend and sell product. The Sales Associate follows the direction established by the Store Manager.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to an environment where employees are informed, curious and happy to show off a great product by maintaining product knowledge, accessing available resources and seeking out additional information when necessary.
  • Deliver HERO Selling behaviors. Provide a warm, friendly environment. Smile and greet customers who enter the store.
  • Proactively engage customers, ask questions, listen, interact, and recommend products that meet customer needs.
  • Demonstrate product upon request of a customer or as directed by MOD/Management.
  • Understand and share product assortment and differentiating qualities of similar products in each category (bakeware, cooks’ tools, cutlery, cookware and coffee/electrics).
  • Understand and promote services, including but not limited to, gift registry and cooking classes (as appropriate).
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the store (including restrooms), process goods, replenish (using FIFO), face product, and ensure pricing integrity and MOS as necessary.
  • Stock/restock selling floor according to visual standards.
  • Accurately and efficiently process a variety of transactions via the POS including, but not limited to, sales, returns, price checks, etc.
  • Model and consistently follow all Sur La Table policies and procedures, including but not limited to, Retail Operations, HR Practices and Critical Controls.
  • Accurately record time worked according to SLT policy.
  • Demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills with employees, customers and store management team.
  • Protect customers, employees, and company assets. Notify MOD of safety risk or threat in the store.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by MOD/Store Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Ability to communicate verbally and work cooperatively with employees and customers.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for up to 3 hours at a time.
  • Ability to move about the work place selling to customers and retrieving merchandise from storage and/or sales floor.
  • Ability to grab, reach, push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel and crouch in order to demonstrate, retrieve and/or replenish merchandise.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends as business dictates.
  • Ability to ascend/descend ladders in order to retrieve and/or move merchandise.
Sales Associate Regular, Part-Time, Non-Exempt
  • Ability to operate a computer, POS system, keyboards, merchandise scanners and mouse in order to accomplish work.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to lift and/or move merchandise weighing up to 35 lbs.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1 year retail sales experience (preferred).
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Proficient in POS Systems.
  • May require Food Handlers Certification.
